Sculptra® Cosmetic: Restore Volume to the SkinSafe & Effective / No DowntimeSculptra® is a new synthetic injectable material known as “poly-L-lactic acid.” Poly-L-lactic acid is a biocompatible, biodegradable material that has been widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants, and other types of implants. Sculptra® is injected into the skin where areas of fat and volume have been lost. Sculptra® helps lift, smooth and firm-up your skin gradually, providing an increase in skin thickness and remedying areas of the face that look hollow or gaunt from age. Visible results appear within the first few treatment sessions. Commonly Asked Questions - Sculptra® :Where is Sculptra® Used?Sculptra® is most commonly used on the face, however other areas may be treated. Are the results seen immediately? No, Sculptra® results appear gradually. At your first treatment visit it may appear that Sculptra® worked immediately. That is because of swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra®. In a few days, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as you did before your treatment. Sculptra® takes time to gradually correct the depression in your skin. At this time we will see you again to decide if you need more Sculptra® injections. How many treatments are needed? The doctor will decide with you the number of treatment sessions and the amount of Sculptra® you will need at each treatment session. Patients with severe facial fat loss may require three to six treatment sessions. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect. Are the injections painful? When performed by a trained physician, Sculptra® injections should only cause slight discomfort. To optimize your comfort, your trained physician may choose a local anesthetic in the treatment area prior to injecting. How long do treatments last?Treatment effects will differ for each person. In a clinical study most patients experienced treatment results that lasted for up to 2 years after the first treatment session. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect. Is there any downtime? No. Most people return to work or normally activities immediately following treatment. Are there any side effects? The most common side effects with the use of Sculptra include injection-related side effects at the site of the injection, such as bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising, or swelling. These side effects generally last, on average, 3 to 10 days. How much does Sculptra® cost?Sculptra® is sold by the syringe; the total number of syringes needed can vary from patient to patient.
